Dear Potential Recipient:
Thank you for considering organ or tissue donation from healthy willing inmates. Prisoner organ and tissue donation is rare, not due to a lack of willingness by healthy inmates, but because of a ban on such donations set 20 years ago when testing for communicable diseases was unreliable. Modern detection technology now makes it safe for recipients to receive such donations from healthy inmates.
GAVE is a nonprofit organization established to raise awareness for prisoner organ and tissue donation and its lifesaving potential. We connect willing altruistic inmate donors with potential recipients, and assist with communication between the prison systems and the transplant community.
Every inmate who has registered with us has voiced their wish to be an organ or tissue donor with their prison system. While there are substantial logistical issues that must be worked out prior to an actual donation, most prison systems have indicated a willingness to discuss overcoming these issues with your transplant team.
Our inmate clients want nothing from perspective donors but the honor of donating to them. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of being a part of your journey.
